LG Optimus 2X

At NVIDIA’s CES press conference today, LG and NVIDIA gave us all the first look at the LG Optimus 2X, which they call the “world’s first Tegra 2 superphone”.  It’s the first phone to use NVIDIA’s Tegra 2 chipset, and it’s impressive to say the least.  The plan, according to LG’s Yongseok Jang, was to create beauty on the outside, and a monster on the inside, and it looks like they succeeded.  The specs:

  • 1Ghz Dual-core Processor (NVIDIA Tegra 2)
  • 4-inch WVGA screen
  • Android 2.2 (Froyo), upgradeable to Android 2.3 (Gingerbread)
  • 8GB memory (up to 32GB via microSD)
  • 1,500 mAh battery
  • 8 megapixel rear camera and 1.3 megapixel front camera
  • HDMI mirroring
  • 1080p MPEG-4/H.264 playback and recording

No word on carrier, or pricing, but we’re on the lookout.  Hit the break to see the Optimus 2X pass the latest in smartphone benchmarks — Angry Birds on the big screen.

Angry Birds!
